See it working

Your tabs, grouped and cleared.

Open tabs collapse into one tidy list by website. Open a group and you decide what goes — the whole site at once, or tab by tab.

Tab Cleaner for Safari grouping open tabs by website — Mumsnet, Google, Amazon, Daily Mail and BBC, each showing how many tabs it holds.
Grouped by websiteEvery open tab, sorted into one line per site — so 22 tabs read as five.
The Amazon group expanded in Tab Cleaner for Safari, showing four individual tabs with two ticked and a Select all 4 button — clearing a whole site or picking tabs one by one.
Delete by site, or one by oneClear a whole site with “Select all”, or tick just the tabs you’re done with. Then delete.

How it works

Tab Cleaner for Safari is a Safari Web Extension. Once installed it reads your open tabs on the device, groups them by website, and closes only the ones you select. It has no account, no server and no analytics.

Private by design. Your tabs never leave your iPhone — there’s nowhere for them to go.

Turning it on

Installing isn’t the last step — iPhone keeps four switches for Safari extensions, and two of them fail silently. Flip all four and Tab Cleaner appears in Safari.

  1. Settings → Screen Time → Content & Privacy → Web Content. Set it to Unrestricted. Anything stricter greys out every Safari extension, not just this one.
  2. Settings → Apps → Safari → Extensions → Tab Cleaner. Turn Allow Extension on.
  3. On that same screen, set All Websites to Allow — not Ask. With “Ask” the extension never shows up, so it looks like it was never installed.
  4. Quit and reopen Safari. Then open Tab Cleaner from the page menu — the aA icon in the address bar, not the share sheet.

Questions

How do I close all my tabs at once on iPhone Safari?

Safari can close every tab: press and hold the tabs button and choose Close All Tabs. Tab Cleaner is for when you don't want to lose everything: it groups your tabs by website so you can close whole sites, duplicates or old tabs and keep the rest.

Does Tab Cleaner work on Chrome?

Yes, on desktop Chrome (Windows, Mac, Linux and ChromeOS). It is coming to the Chrome Web Store; join the waitlist to hear the day it's live. Chrome on Android and iPhone does not support extensions.

Can Tab Cleaner see my browsing?

No. It has no account, no analytics and no network access. It reads your open tabs only on your device, to group and close them.
